ON NEW YEAR’S EVE on Sunday at about 22:10, the Police of Southwest Finland received a call to a private residence in Sampola, Pori, where a minor had been shot.

The suspected crime took place in a flat in an apartment building in the Sampola area. The victim is a 15-year-old boy.

The boy was taken to the hospital in a critical condition. On Monday evening, he was dead.

The crime, which was investigated as attempted manslaughter, is now being investigated as a suspected homicide.

A total of four people were arrested by police on Monday in connection with the crime. Their involvement in the incident remains under investigation.

“Some of those arrested are adults and some are minors,” Antti Alatalo, a detective inspector and the deputy chief investigator, said in a statement.

For investigative reasons, the police cannot comment on the relationship between the victim and the possible perpetrators, nor the details of the suspects, the alarm or the arrest.

Pori is a city and municipality on the west coast with a population of about 83,000.
