”We are going tell about happy news: if everything will go as expected, our family will grow in February 2018,” said the presidential couple, President Sauli Niinistö and his spouse Jenni Haukio, in a bulletin released by the president’s office on Monday afternoon.
“We have been waiting and wishing for a child for several years. These years have included many hardships. That’s why, besides our happiness, there has been some sensitivity in the beginning of the pregnancy but now we can tell about the subject.”
The bulletin added that “this is a private family matter, and the addition to the family will not affect the job as a president.”
Sauli Niinistö and Jenni Haukio got married on January 3, 2009. The to-be born child is the first for Haukio and the third for Niinistö.
