“We are very pleased with this year’s event,” says Sampsa Jolma, CEO of Pori Jazz, in a statement sent to Finland Today.
According to the organizers, the arrangements for the Pori Jazz’s main concert area worked well, and the audience enjoyed the music on three different stages.
Notably, the crowd moved between the stages more than in previous years, and Lokkilava (Seagull Stage), for example, attracted large audiences. The return of the jazz street to the South Shore was a success, and people embraced it.
During the main festival days from July 17 to 19 at Kirjurinluoto, a total of 50,000 guests attended the three main concerts. The attendance figures were 10,000 on Thursday, 15,000 on Friday, and 25,000 on Saturday. Alongside the varied free program from July 11 to 19, the festival’s total attendance reached 192,000.
This year’s lineup included prolific funky drummer and producer Makaya McCraven, 1980s pop-rock sensation Roxette, soulful jazz vocalist Jazzmeia Horn, British singer Sting, and more.
