HELSINKI – Happy New Year! Finns, Russians, Italians, Asians … – a total crowd of 30,000 people gathered on Wednesday evening at the Senate Square to celebrate the year 2015.
There was a sense of unity and togetherness as different nationalities enjoyed a vast but compact show of some of the Finnish front-row artists, such as Jukka Poika and Jonna Tervomaa.
Unity was also the theme in Mayor Jussi Pajunen’s New Year speech.
The celebration ended in beautiful fireworks, which surged in the air from the steps of Helsinki Cathedral.
