HomeFashionThe Crazy Days ‘Hullut Päivät’ Receive a Facelift Elizabeth Catherine Barr 04/06/2016 Fashion, News The shop window in the corner of Aleksanterinkatu and Keskuskatu at the Helsinki centre offers an overview to the renewed Hullut Päivät concept. On Tuesday April 5, the media was invited to visit the window for an exclusive look. Picture: Tony Öhberg for Finland Today To quote Andy Williams’ Christmas anthem, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” Hullut Päivat (The Crazy Days) begins bright and early on Wednesday morning, April 6. However, this year, Stockmann has shaken things up. After 30 years of being flat, the Yellow Ghost is now in 3-D, after being digitized by Helsinki design firm Brink. Moreover, there will be “ghost products” this year that are being created in small runs just for Stockmann. Think limited edition Rebecca Minkoff bags, yellow and black Iittala birds, and don’t forget the ambrosia that are ghost munkkis! What makes this Hullut Päivat especially sexy is the addition of a limited edition Tom of Finland for Finlayson Sailor duvet cover and pillowcase. This well-chiseled hunk can come to bed with you for only €54,90, but there are only 400 of the covers and 600 of the pillowcases made, so you have to act fast. But it is more than just muscles that makes this sailor so desirable as a voucher for a trip for two to San Francisco lays hiding in the packaging of the bedding sets. The shop window is decorated with Tom of Finland’s art. Stockmann glass bird by Iittala at the front. Picture: Tony Öhberg for Finland Today To round out the event, at the Helsinki flagship store, there will be live acts playing daily, a home decor sample sale on Saturday morning and a champagne grocery shopping evening on Friday the 8th. And let’s not forget the bargain flights offered by Finnair, cheap spices at the Delicatessen and my favourite, the canned French duck for under €20,00. Hullut Päivat runs until Sunday, April 10.
